Hanna and the hurricane by Mariane (March 2012)

Hanna is 16 years old and lives on an island. During her holiday she works on Mr. Durval’s boat. He doesn’t pay her very much money, but for her that isn’t a priority. One day a competitor’s boat arrived and it took Hanna’s job. This boat belonged to Max Marker. She tried to talk to the businessman, but he laughed and tried to buy Mr. Durval’s boat. Not only does Marker ruin Durval’s business, but he also destroys his boat, so Hanna decided to confront Marker.

When a hurricane arrived, she went to Durval’s house until the end of the storm. After the storm Hanna went to Marker’s house and found it had been destroyed by the hurricane. Hanna found Max Marker under some wood and stone and he couldn’t move. She helped him escape and he thanked her and asked her how he could repay her. She said that she didn’t want any money: she only wanted him to help Mr. Durval recover his business. Max agreed, and said that he had learnt that money wasn’t everything.
