Happy Birthday!

A late happy birthday to Maria Eugenia, Mariana, Patricia, Isabel and Carolina who's birthdays are gone but weren't forgotten! Only one birthday is due in May, that of Elaine on the 14th.

Welcome

A warm welcome to Maria Eugenia, Vanessa and Alberto who have started English courses with Viv since the last issue of the Newsletter.

Welcome back

It's nice to see Daniela Benjo back again after the break in classes. The same goes for Luiz Fernando and Junior, who should be restarting after Easter.

Good luck!

I wish Cristina and Renata, who have terminated their courses, the very best of luck for the future.

What's new?

You may already be aware that Viv has started his own web site (this is certainly the case if you're reading this using a browser!)

The site started off as just one page, and now has expanded to include the following:

an on-line English dictionary, course information and Viv's methodology, a list of current and ex-students with some examples of their work, level tests, the films in Viv's Video Club, various internet sites where you can practice your English, and weather and travel information from around the world. The latest addition is a site which will show you a map of any location in the UK. You just type in the address (or phone number), and a map will appear. You can zoom in, out, left or right to get a better idea of the exact location.

My original idea was only to expand the site once a month, but I wanted to make an interesting and useful site to visit first, something I believe I have been successful in doing.

If you want to visit the site it's at the following address:

www.vivquarry.com

The next developments on the web site will be copies of Viv's grammar worksheets and exercises, and the addition of more past editions of the Newsletter.

Holidays

This edition has come out too late to mention the Easter holiday, but don't forget that the first of May is a holiday, too. Viv will not be teaching on either the 30th of April or the 1st of May.

The 21st of April is also a holiday (Tiradentes); if you have classes on Saturdays, let Viv know if you would like to have your class or not.

Send me some compositions!

I need more examples of my student's work for the web site. Please choose a final draft that you're happy with and send it to Viv by e-mail.

Your contributions

The composition of the month this month is by Biatriz Revilla, who works at Shell Brazil. She is doing a pre-intermediate course and has been have classes with Viv since September last year.
