Edition 1

You can also see other back issues by selecting 'back' at the bottom of the page.

Only two of my current students celebrate their birthdays in February, Danusa on the eighth and Juliana C on the twelfth. In March, Fernanda's birthday is on the fourteenth and Maira's on the twenty-eighth.

Cost of Classes

At the start of every year Viv adjusts the price he charges for classes. In February, the new price will be (contact Viv for details)..

Free Classes

Because several of Viv's students are on holiday in January and February, Viv is willing to arrange extra free classes to fill these spaces. If it's possible for you to come for a class in the afternoon or on Saturdays, these extra classes will be free.  For example, if you were having 2 classes per week in December, you can have 3 in January and February for the price of 2.

Unfortunately, these extra classes are only possible when a space exists in his timetable. Just talk to Viv if you're interested.

Holidays

Viv won't be working on the 20th of January, but if you'd like a class on the 21st, just get in contact with him. This year, the Carnival will be between the 25th of  February and the 1st of March and Viv will be on holiday during this period.

Course News

In January everyone will be doing a back of notebook test and students at the levels above intermediate will be revising their prepositions and phrasal verbs vocab. cards. In February we'll be eliminating Viv's angry pages and using the internet to practice your English. We'll also take the opportunity to up-date or create your personal web pages. Can everyone check that the telephone numbers on your personal records (the first page of the bill Viv sends you every month) are correct.

Particularly mobile phone numbers change every so often and if Viv needs to contact you urgently because he has to cancel a class, he will try your mobile number first. If you've changed phone numbers since you started your course, please remember to let Viv know, or you may find that you arrive for a class one day and the teacher isn't there!

Student of the month

My student of the month for this edition is Maíra Greco. She first contacted Viv because she had to give a presentation in English and needed help preparing it. She started classes in May 2005 and has made excellent progress, always passing her vocabulary and back of notebook tests. Well done!

Features

Last month's feature was a 'A letter from Israel' by Viv. This month it's: 'A letter from Barcelona' written in 1986.
