 Good news!

Isabel Faria, a student who started having classes with Viv in 2001 and completed four different levels, took the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English examination in December last year. After taking the exam, Viv received the following message: "Hello Viv,

It was terrible, horrendous, awful, horrible....Of course I failed it, but it was already expected. It's sad, because after seven years studying English I wasn't able to pass this test! Never mind....

Love,  Isabel."

I couldn't understand what had happened, and asked her to explain what had gone wrong. Then on the 28th of February, I received another message from Isabel: "I'VE PASSED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I've got grade C. It isn't very good, but the most important thing is to pass. I'm very happy !!!!! Yeeeeeeeeeah!!!! The weakest parts were the reading and the listening, as we knew.... The writing and the speaking were good and the English in use was borderline. Congratulations for you too!!".  Viv is very happy because so far every student of his who has taken the Cambridge CAE and FCE exams have passed. :-)

Congratulations!

My congratulations also go to Bia who passed the important intermediate level in April - well done!

Welcome!

In the three months since the last Newsletter, Viv has been lucky enough to welcome several new students. In February Lucia and Tati D'anton started classes at the beginner level. In the same month, Clara and Lucia Rocha also began upper-intermediate courses. In March, Viv was happy to welcome Carolina, Consuelo and Luciana who are doing the pre-intermediate level. In April, two Joanas (Canalonga and Dale) started classes at the beginner and intermediate levels respectively.

Happy Birthday!

Birthday greetings to Elaine and Tati (14th & 23 May), and Carol and Juliana (16 & 17 June). In July, 3 of Viv's students celebrate their birthdays. Lucia D'anton on the 4th. Tita on the 17th and Michelle on the 28th.

Holidays

Viv will not be working on the Corpus Christi holiday (22nd May) but he won't be taking another long weekend, so if you want to cancel classes on the 23rd & 24th, please let Viv know in advance.

Students of the month

Viv has two students of the month in this edition of the Newsletter! When Lucia and Tati D'anton came for their level test in  February, they could hardly answer any questions, but now, after just three months hard work, they can speak a little English and both passed the mid-course test with good scores. Well done!
