Welcome!
Viv would like to welcome Carla, Gabi and Marcelle as new students.
Congratulations!
Three students have recently passed courses at the beginner level. Congratulations to Lucia and Tati D'Anton and Joana Canalonga for the hard work necessary to complete a level of English.
Happy birthday!
I would like to wish a very happy birthday to three students who celebrate their birthdays in November: Joana Dale (the 17th) and Carla & Marliana (the 21st). I would also like to send birthday greetings to the four students whose birthdays are in January: Consuelo (the 2nd), Roberta (the 8th), Bia (the 25th) and Joana Granato (the 31st).
Holidays
Viv will not be working on Saturday the 15th of November (Proclamation of the Republic Day). On Zumbi Day, he will be working normally for those students who would like to have a class (providing all previous homework has been completed).
Viv's Christmas and New Year holiday will be from Saturday the 20th of December until Friday the second of January. If you would like to have more than two weeks holiday, please tell Viv in advance so that he can organise his timetable.
Course News
Two students have won a Viv's t-shirt for a score of 19.5 in the vocabulary tests (Joana Granato and Lucimar Candido). However, Viv was disappointed in the vocabulary test results of many of his students, who failed the first time they took the test. :-(
For students who have continued having classes with Viv after completing a level, you will find that your student Vocabulary Database has changed. You can now review and test only the words which are in your new vocabulary notebook.
Most of Viv's students have borrowed a DVD from his library and after speaking about the film, I will ask you to write a film review. Don't worry, if you have difficulty doing this, Viv will help you. In December Viv will give everyone a reading activity to do over the Christmas break and we'll sing some songs.
Student of the month
My student of the month for this edition of the Newsletter is Consuelo Magalhaes. She started having classes at the pre-intermediate level with Viv in March this year. She had tried to learn English several times before without success, but this time she has worked really hard on improving her English and she is doing very well.
Features
The feature on page two of this month's edition of the Newsletter is a composition on the city of Rio de Janeiro by Renata Estafan. She has been having classes with Viv since May this year and her English has improved considerably over this time. Well done! :-)
