 Welcome!

A warm welcome to Andrea Achoa, Fernanda and Mariana, who have started English courses with Viv.

Welcome back!

Viv is very happy to welcome back Agatha, Claudia, Luciana Lima and Tatiana, who have all returned after a long break in classes.

Congratulations!

Well done to Maira, who passed the intermediate level of English at the end of last month. My congratulations also go to Olivia, who got the score she needed in the IELTS examination after a short preparatory course with Viv.

Good luck!

Viv wishes all the best for the future to Maira, Mariana Q, Marliana, Fernanda T, Flavia and Valeria.

Bad luck!

Unfortunately, Fernanda was unsuccessful in passing the Cambridge FCE examination in June.

Happy birthday!

A happy birthday to Andrea A (28 Oct.), Joana (17 Nov.) and Juliana (16 Dec.). Also, a late happy birthday to Fernanda, whose birthday was on the 8th of September.

Holidays

Viv will not be working from the 9th to the 12th of October due to the 'Our lady of Aparecida' holiday. Tuesday the second of November is Remembrance Day, but Viv will be working on the Saturday and Monday before this for those students who would like classes. He will not be working from the 13th to the 15th of November (Proclamation of the Republic Day), but if Saturday students would like classes on the 20th of November, Viv will be happy to see them. Viv's end of year break in 2010 will be from the 23rd of December to 3rd of January.

Course news

When you receive a bill it is for classes in the previous month. Viv has to pay his rent by the fifth of each month, so please pay your bills before this day if possible.

The winner of Viv's World Cup Draw was Lucimar, who scored 11 points.

Nearly all students now have their own personal English database cd-rom. Please look after this disk and treat it carefully. The disks are rewritable, so every few months, you will be asked to bring it to class so that Viv can copy the latest versions of your databases to your cd. If you lose the cd Viv has given you, please buy a new one.

If you borrow a DVD from Viv, please hold it by the sides and be careful when inserting it into your DVD player. CDs are much more durable than videos, but they can still be destroyed if dropped or scratched, and need to be cleaned if they have finger marks on them.

In the last couple of months of the year, all Viv's students will be doing a reading activity and there will be a film in December.

Student of the month

The student of the month for this edition of the Newsletter is Luciana Prates. She started her course at the advanced level in 2009 and since then she has worked hard on improving her English. The results have been very good and she is now writing and speaking much better than before.
