Welcome!

Viv would like to welcome Ana, who started classes in March.

Congratulations!

Well done to Marcele for passing the pre-intermediate level of English.

Good luck!

The best of luck to Fernanda, Maira and Renata, who have suspended or terminated their English courses. Viv would also like to wish Roberta luck when she takes the Cambridge First Certificate Exam in June.

Happy birthday!

Viv's birthday is on the 5th of June, but he will be working normally and happy to see any students who have classes on this day!!!! A very happy birthday goes to Tita for the 17th July and Mariane on the 17th August and to Bea and Bruna, who celebrate their birthdays on the 1st and 26th of September.

Holidays!

Viv's best friend, Malcolm, and his wife are coming to stay with him during the World Cup, so Viv will be on holiday from the 19th of June (Corpus Christie holiday) until the 17th of July.

The World Cup

There won't be any classes when Brazil and England are playing matches in the group stage of the World Cup. Therefore, on the evenings of the 12th  (Brazil v Croatia), and the 14th of June (England v Italy), and in the afternoon (4pm) of the 17th of June (Brazil v Mexico). All of the other matches will take place while Viv is on holiday.

What's new?

Nearly all Viv's students now have on-line test pages for all the words and expressions on their Back Of Notebook and Vocabulary Databases. These tests can be done on the computer, smartphone or tablet at any time you like. If you can't remember where the files are, just go to Viv's web site (type 'Viv Quarry' into Google), in the address bar at the top, click after the address and put '/DB/ + the first letters of your name + VDB/ or BON/'. Then type in the file name you want to test (ask Viv what this is if you can't remember). Don't forget that in these tests, capital letters are important.

There are also two files which include all the words and expressions on both your Vocab. and BON Databases. You can use these web pages as a personal dictionary, searching for words in either Portuguese or English. If you aren't sure how to do this, ask Viv in class.

Course news

Everyone will do another back of notebook test before Viv goes on holiday.
