Welcome!

Viv would like to welcome several new students: Luciana, Mariela, Renato and Roberto.

Welcome back!

A warm welcome back to Vanessa, who started classes with Viv in 2001, completed two levels of English (pre-intermediate & intermediate) and suspended her classes in 2004. She has now started a preparation course for the Cambridge First Certificate.

Congratulations!

Well done to Amanda for successfully passing the elementary level, and to Roberta for passing the Cambridge First Certificate Examination.

Good luck!

Viv would like to wish the best of luck to Nara, who completed the proficiency level before going to live in Norway. The best of luck also goes to Cleo, Maira and Samara, who have suspended their courses.

Happy birthday!

Happy birthday to Vanessa (9th of December) and Patricia, Roberta, Mariela and Bia, who celebrate their birthdays on the 2nd, 8th, 18th and 25th of January respectively.

Holidays

Viv won't be working from the 20th of November (Black Consciousness Day) until the 23rd of November.

This year, Viv's Christmas and New Year's holiday will be from the 23rd of December until the 4th of January. Please let Viv know in advance if you are planning to go on holiday in January or February.

Course news

All Viv's students will be doing a back of notebook test in November, and he will be interested to see how good the film review compositions are after watching 'The spy who loved me'. Congratulations to everyone on the quality of your magazine reading activity.

Since the start of roadworks in Viv's street, it has become very difficult to find a parking space. If you usually come to class by car, tell Viv and he will show you how to park your car in his garage.

After 80 editions, Viv will be writing his last edition of the Newsletter at the beginning of 2015. He will also be deactivating his student profile pages on his web site. As Facebook has copied his idea and made it universally available, there's no need for Viv's profile pages any more! :-)

Viv can  now be contacted using WhatsApp on his mobile phone number.

Viv is working on an App. to give you easy access to the words on your BON and Vocab Databases (the programs you use in class to help you learn words, pronunciation and grammar). However, at the moment this App is only available for smartphones and tablets with the Android operating system, so let Viv know if you have one of these devices.

Features

This edition features 10 tips for learning a foreign language, which Viv found on the Guardian newspaper web site. If you would like to read the article on-line, use the link at the bottom of the page.
