False friends are similar words which exist in both English and in the student's native language. Because the words look similar, a learner may think that they can be used in the same way; this is often not true.
There are two exercises below for Brazilian Portuguese speakers of English. The words in bold are false friends, try to work out what the correct word should be in English.
