 (A = Hotel receptionist / booking clerk.  = You.

 

A         Hello. Viv's Sunny Hotel. Henry speaking.

       Hello. I believe that the Sholl International Annual Conference is taking place at your hotel, is that right?

A         Certainly Sir/Madam. The conference will be between the 8th and 12th of December.

       I'll be attending the conference and would like to book a room, if possible.

A         Hold on a moment, please. I'll put you through to our booking department.........

A         Hello. Bookings, Thelma speaking. Can I help you?

       Hello. I'd like to book a single room from the 8th to the 11th of December.

A         Will you be coming for the conference Sir/Madam?

       Yes, I will.

A         If you check out on the 11th, the conference won't have finished. The last day is the 12th.

       I know, but I'm flying to Barcelona on the 12th, so I'll have to leave the conference early. It won't be a problem because by the 11th I'll have been listening to boring speeches about the company for four days, and be happy to escape!

A         Ok Sir/Madam. Can you give me your name and expected time of arrival on the 8th?

       My name is ******* and my flight arrives at 9am. Is the hotel near the airport?

A         If the traffic isn't too bad it'll take twenty minutes by taxi.

       Ok, so if  there are no traffic jams I'm going to get there at about 11am. What's the daily rate, please?

A         It's $56 per night. There's a 2% reservation fee charged in the event of last minute cancellation.

       Ok.

A         How will you be paying for your room Mr/Ms *****?

       By credit card. Here are the details: Master Express no. 3580 735001 99933.

A         What's the expiry date, please.

       June next year.

A         Thank you Mr/Ms *****. Your reservation is confirmed.

       I'm going to need access to the internet while I'm there. Do you have internet facilities?

A         Yes, Sir/Madam. We're a five star hotel and have all modern facilities including a bar, restaurant, heated swimming pool and health club.

       Great. That sounds fine.

A         Ok Mr/Ms *****. We look forward to seeing you on the 8th of December.

       Thanks. Bye.

A         Good bye.
