Holidays

For those of you who have enjoyed the twenty days of holiday so far in 2003, I've got some more good news.

Viv hasn't been back to England to see his friends and family for four years, and so he has decided to spend both his and his mum's birthdays in England this year. I will not be teaching between the first of June and the second of July 2003.

I'll give everyone their bills for the month between the 19th and 24th of May and would be very grateful if everyone can pay Viv before he goes on holiday.

Happy Birthday!

I wish Walter a happy birthday (25th June). Viv will be having a birthday drink in London on the first Saturday after his birthday (5th June).

Parking

Even after increasing the cost of parking in the self-park car park, Viv is still unable to cover the monthly fee with the money he charges his students. Therefore, unless he can negotiate a reduction with the owners, Viv will no longer be able to stamp parking tickets from  the tenth of May onwards.

If the negotiation is successful I'll let those students who use the car park know by e-mail.

Congratulations!

My warmest congratulations to Paula, who got married last weekend.

Course news

Just as April was the month for vocabulary tests, which almost everyone passed, the activity in May will be the correction of past e-mail sent to Viv.

When I receive a message, if there are any mistakes in it, I keep a copy, then every few months, we can review the errors and produce a final, correct version of the past messages.

I believe that this is an important exercise because nowadays e-mail is often used as the main form of communication in companies with branches in other countries. Please keep on sending me messages whenever you can. It's a good way to practice your writing.
