Welcome back!

In the last couple of months Viv has been very happy to welcome back students who first started having classes with him over five years ago.

A very warm welcome to Cristina Turnes and Monica.

Happy Birthday!

There are only three birthdays in the next two months: Cristina T on the first and Viv on the fifth of June, and in July Jovana celebrates her birthday on the 26th.

Holidays

Thursday the tenth of June is a holiday, so Viv won't be working on this day. However, if you are planning to take a long weekend and won't be coming for a class on the Friday or Saturday, please let Viv know in advance so that he can plan his timetable.

Cancellations

As you probably know, when you have to cancel a class, if you let Viv know in advance he doesn't charge for the missed class. The exception to this rule is when a student cancels over 20% of their programmed classes for the month. In this case, you will be charged 50% of the cost of the extra missed classes. If you're planning to go on holiday for a month, please tell Viv in advance, preferably two weeks before you suspend classes, then your place in his timetable will be guaranteed.  Cancellations made on the same day as your class will only not be charged if they are because you are ill.

No Shows

I have mentioned 'No shows' in a previous edition of the Newsletter, but I have recently changed the rules for when this happens.

If you miss a class and don't contact Viv either by phone or by e-mail the same day, it will be listed in your bill as a 'No Show'. The new rules are listed on page two of this Edition.

What's new?

The 'special reading activity' mentioned in the last edition will be given to students this week. Viv has printed out pages from internet news sites and prepared exercises on them. Try to complete the exercise within one week if you can.

Course News

The planned activities for the next couple of months are writing out Viv's angry pages in June and another vocabulary test in July.

Student of the month

The student of the month for June is Jovana Druck.  She is a psychiatry student who started an upper-intermediate English course in March 2004. Right from the beginning, she has worked very hard on improving her English and has made excellent progress. This progress has been even more exceptional due to the fact that she has had to combine her English studies with looking after her two young children. Well done!

Features

As well as the new rules for 'No shows', there's a list of the sites where you can read on-line newspapers and get news.

If you're connected to the internet, just click on the blue link and it will open the site, or copy the web address to IE.
