A late 'happy birthday' to Paty
R for the 2nd of January, and best wishes also to: Nara and Bia (the 20th &
25th of Jan.), Maira (28th March) and Andrea and Isabela (13th & 21st
April).
Cost of classes
Viv had been in England for two
days and it was just before his birthday in June last year when he got the
following message from his landlord: Your rent is going up by R$580 ($290) per
month, if you don't like it, you have one month to leave your flat! This
represented an increase of 27.5%. Viv adjusts his price for classes at the
beginning of every year, and in order to cover this increase in rent and last
year's inflation, from January 2013, he will be charging (contact
Viv for details) per hour (an
increase of 5.4%)
Holidays
Viv's Carnival holiday will be
from Saturday the ninth of February until Friday the 15th of February. Easter
will be on the 29th and 30th of March, and Viv will also be on holiday on the
23rd April (St George's Day) and 1st of May (May Day).
Course news
The winner of 'Lancelot' (see edition
75) was Andrea Vasconcellos, who got a score of 15 out of 20 in the
vocabulary test. This was an excellent score considering the fact that she has
been using the same vocabulary notebook for over 150 hours of classes. Class
activities in January and February will include a vocabulary test, followed by a
back of notebook test. There are usually four vocab. tests per year (one every
three months) and three BON tests (one every four months).

Student of the month
Viv's student of the month for
this edition of the Newsletter is Lilian Rachid. An exceptionally hard working
student combined with excellent class attendance has resulted in someone whose
ability to speak, write and understand English has improved quite dramatically
since she first started classes with Viv in October 2010. Well done Lilian!! :-)
